Anything is Possible
Through thick and thin
Down by the river in Porto, it’s a grey day.
Men are up and down the boardwalk area with their fishing poles like this guy below.
There is nunca coming in today. I would imagine that much of it is beyond their control.
The weather, the tide, and the fact that it all comes down to the fish’s willingness to take the bait.
Yet none of this seems to stop these people from going out and giving it their best shot. Because they know that fortunes can turn quickly in these sports.
One young fellow has come from Italy, and has been fishing all around the Mediterranean coast this season.
The big joint hanging out of his mouth will keep him in the game as it does probably at every other stop on his journey.
I don’t fish, but I admire all these people who have the patience to just sit there with a rod, recasting the line as needed.
We are often attracted to stories that reveal massive outcomes, or products that help us get rich quick, however many things in life are built from the act of showing up and slowly working on getting better results.
The “overnight success” is often created in just this way.
So this message is in tribute to the farmer, the gardner and the fisherman who patiently work the land or the ocean through both the good and the bad seasons.
You might have trouble focusing in the middle of the summer. Here in cold Canada, it’s hard to hunker down when the sun is out.
But that shouldn’t stop you from doing your best. And as the expression goes, when you want something done, ask a busy person.
So while your hours of focus get cut short due to amazing weather and the great outdoors, just remember that anything is possible.
