Dentistry is a game of potential hydrogen (pH) in your saliva. That’s what my dentist told me this week as we discussed the inner workings of my mouth. If your saliva is on the side of base (associated with Draino and baking soda), you will have more plaque and tarter accumulate, typically on the bottom teeth. If you are more an acidic type, your affliction will take the shape of cavities. From that sentence alone you would probably be able to answer me if I quizzed you on what the pH value of your mouth is.
When the pandemic began the dental clinic would not polish my teeth for well over a year. It was orders from the association to prevent particles from flying out of the mouth.
Now of course they not only polish the teeth but they returned to using the Cavitron which is basically a Super Soaker (remember those things?) or a Waterpik on steroids. The dental assistant was in, I sh*t you not, a hazmat suit. I left the visit basically drenched in my own Draino.
Here is a photo of me with a mini Super Soaker at camp. I’m pretty sure the shorts are by the soccer brand Umbra. They still make those green checkered ones, I just checked. It doesn’t look like a proper Super Soaker but it does have the little pump on it that tells you it’s from the general family of this particular water gun.
The Super Soaker was invented by Lonnie Johnson in 1989. Prior to inventing this high powered water machine, Lonnie worked at NASA for 12 years in the Jet Propulsion Lab.
Another great inventor is Alan Adler who came up with the Aerobie high speed frisbee and then went on to create the Aeropress which I use for my afternoon espresso (half decaf).
My morning coffee is religiously drip, and I now even use a digital scale to make it as perfect as possible. 15 grams of coffee get 455 grams of water (roughly).
Check out this week’s episode of Elliott’s Podcast which features some nylon guitar. I think it would work well with going to sleep.
The visuals on this one is just one long loop of a bridge. This week I learned how to make videos loop nicely. Of course not all videos work well for this purpose but it’s a fun game to find ones that will work. It has to do with the camera being fixed and objects not moving around in blatant ways.
Listen to Elliott’s Podcast on something other than YouTube.
Next Saturday will be the one-year anniversary of Elliott’s Podcast and will feature a live recording at 8pm EST on YouTube.
I have new music out on Thursday! The Way It Begins Is Never The Way It Ends is a 3-pack of tracks. I’m most excited about the tune Sandviches which is a high-speed funky techno jam. It’s book-ended by two weightless tracks that don’t have any drums on them.
Alright I’m off to take Ted out and will scrounge up some brunch. He stays on a 20-foot long leash in the park, and I reel him back in like a kite or a fish.
See you next week…
