This week I was reading about Oumuamua in the New York Times, which is possibly the first ‘interstellar object’ to enter into our solar system back in 2017. And it did so in a drive-by style. And we almost missed it.
It’s most likely a piece of rock, but some people wonder if it was a spacecraft. And that makes me wonder, do aliens pass through our solar system all the time, and is it possible they don’t care to stop over because it would be like when we drive by a small town on the highway and we only stop if we need to pee or grab a muffin?
As high as we think of ourselves, and as beautiful as we see the earth, maybe we are just not so attractive on the large scale of the universe? Will we develop a complex as more aliens fly through and ignore us?
Special Announcement: New Book
I am happy to announce I am writing a book this month 🤭.
The details are scarce but I can tell you that it is about taking a chance on your projects in an era that I am starting to call ‘social paralysis’ - the paranoid feeling like you’re being watched by your network, even though it is only you watching yourself.
This feeling is exacerbated by the fact that we are indeed being watched by the tech companies who provide this infrastructure to us.
But all that really matters now is being able to drop it all and just make art, moving your creative projects forward step by step. Put things out there, take agency and get used to failing.
New Music by Elliott
This week’s track is an acoustic demo called Netflix Trucks and Hockey Pucks
As well, an afrobeat track that I made a few months ago called Pinball in Laredo is now on Spotify. It is essentially music for Hunter S. Thompson to drive through the desert to.
