There was a time not too long ago when I was motivated to go to the gym first thing in the morning and jump on the treadmill. There is a mirror in front of the treadmill so I would be looking at myself first thing, messy hair and all.
I would say, “It’s you again!”. Sometimes I’d be annoyed that I am still inside this body with all its challenges to work through, but when those feelings of annoyance came up I knew to just smile at the guy in the mirror and just start running.
Keeping things in motion is just about the only coping strategy I have to share with everyone. Yet it can be a dangerous trap too - this is when we see people who are completely identified with work and being busy. That driven behaviour is covering up the underlying issue that life can be difficult.
One of the most frustrating problems we face is that no one has ever figured out what the heck we’re doing here on this planet. So each and everyone one of us has to find our own purpose and write our own story as best we can. Sometimes the theme of life is just coping and getting by. Other times we are able to thrive when we find the upswing.
All of this points to the power of showing up, so by reading my newsletter and maybe listening to the podcast below, you are showing up with me.
Show up to exercise, show up to do your most creative work, and show up for your friends and family. I hope you find some positive energy in here, there really is never enough of it going around.
This week’s podcast is another short one that talks about a goal which is worth striving for every day.
The music is called Sitting Within the Eclipse.
You can also listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or other networks.
This jam called The Salt Miner’s Waltz was heady!
Also find it on YouTube.
Here’s the photo from the podcast episode on its own. I took it off my balcony the other morning. I put it in Adobe Lightroom to fix it a bit.
Ok thanks for showing up with me, see you next week.
