Last Minute Advance Left Turn
Yesterday evening I was driving with my parents after a wonderful celebration. While there was some food served, it was meant to be before dinner. So we headed over to Wendy’s on our way home to get some extra calories before the end of the evening.
We were stopped at an intersection and an Uber driver wanted to get into the left turn lane.

In order to get there, he had to go in front of me. Remember, the light was in the red status at the time, and he didn’t have a lot of room to move around. The left turn lane was already full of cars.
What this means is that two people at some point would have to let him in. The first being me, and the second being someone in the left turn lane.
The left turners had an advance, so if he cut in too early he would ruin the advance for everyone behind us. Yet if he was slow to cut in, he’d now be in the way of our car and everyone behind us as the left turn lane cleared out.

The lights were starting to change, so I backed up a bit to give him some room to work with. I made sure to put the car back into Drive so that I wouldn’t end up backing into the car behind me in the name of being a nice person.
Now the advance left turn was starting. Uber was already nudging past me since I gave him the space to work his magic. The question would be who would step up to the plate here?
My memory isn’t as sharp as it used to be, but I believe one car moved forward and then the next car became the Good Samaritan. It was a black Lexus from about 10 years ago or more.
Uber goes in and floors it, making the advance left, and then Black Lexus follows behind. The advance is ending but Black Lexus does that thing where you can push it a bit since there’s a buffer between advance left and the full intersection going green.
You could say it’s running a red light but it really isn’t. If you need to do it, you do it.
I was thrilled to see everyone made it through ok. There was no frustration, just a quiet cooperation that took thousands of years for us to evolve towards.
Three Ideas from My Notebooks
Uncle Eggy’s Egg White Bites: Mix egg whites with a bit of cottage cheese and add them to a silicone muffin mold. Air fry for 15 minutes at 290 degrees. Add any variation of cheese and vegetables like you would an omelette as needed.
The universe created money so that we would know what to work on and what to avoid. Money is a signal of value and is a tool to help point people in general directions with work. It’s not the end goal, just a powerful tool to help provide guidance once in a while.
The start is the most important part of anything. When you start your work for the day, do you: a. check the news and delay looking at anything as long as you can. b. jump right in like a maniac? c. quietly look at what needs to get done and just sit with that for a bit?

Music Experiments: Going Live at Random Times
Lately I have played around with just hitting the Live button on Instagram and then figuring it out from there. I like this a lot better than hitting record and trying to perform for a camera.
The recordings are lo-fi, and there is time before they get in the groove, but you can either just let them play or scan forward a bit.
Here is a clip of what you can expect (this one gets right in there):
Thanks and have a great week ahead 🧡
