This week I have a fun and funky new track out called Looking Up. It’s technically my singing debut under this project, but I did sing on a few Mr. Tunes tracks in the previous decade.
You can listen to the podcast where I go over some notes about how the song came about, especially since it’s a wild departure from last month’s release which was a spaced-out ambient drone piece. If you don’t end up listening to the podcast I will sum it up a bit by saying:
It’s probably important to push yourself into new territories where you feel uncomfortable. I can’t confirm this but I have a hunch that says this might be a good idea.
Remove attachments or sometimes even unhealthy obsessions to the person that you thought you were so a more interesting and colourful picture may emerge.
A positive outlook on life is needed more than ever but it was always valuable because we are here for such a short slice of time. This is related to the song itself.
I also get to play the United Power Soul track Peace Sign which pairs with this thing perfectly, and I tell a bit about the story of the band.
There are some trees in a very juicy state right now in Toronto. Showing off gradients that explore the space between red, green and yellow. However I noticed that the majority of trees here just go from green to orange/yellow and then the leaves fall off a day after that.
I found this really cool compilation album called American Epic (Spotify). It’s 5 hours of all kinds of traditional folk and roots music of America. This is from a documentary and book project of the same name. Old scratchy gramophone music like this can be very soothing and cozy to listen to around dinner time. Official website.
Before you go to bed at night, ask yourself what your purpose in life is. When you wake up in the morning try to remember what you said before you went to bed the night before. Don’t be upset if you can’t think of a purpose at first, just keep working on the question.
Ok Happy Halloween 👻 ! Time for a bagel and a coffee.
