Teenage Love
I walked into the music store yesterday and there she was. My high school crush, looking as hot as the days when I used to fantasize about her. Tight black pants, flowing blonde hair, an expensive puffy jacket, with rocket red lips to match.
As if not a day had past since those sweaty years with lockers, prom nights, gym class, the smell of bubble gum and body odour.
We made eye contact but when she realized who I was, her eyes darted away instantly. I knew she was with some sort of young family, because otherwise she would have no business in an acoustic guitar store.
I didn’t approach because I was on a mission to retrieve my new Spanish fling, a solid-body nylon string guitar that awaited my throws. I didn’t have time for small talk and pretending to care about her family.
Because at the end of the day, I wanted her then, and I want her now.
Yet she is from a whole other economic stratosphere. Her family so filthy rich, she could wipe my debts clean with the same square of toilet paper that she uses to wipe her ass after a dump.
So I took my seat at the other end of the store. My fingers already warmed up from a lesson just prior. And I belted out the beautiful romantic sound, lush with vibrato and flowing lines of beauty. I hope she heard every note and realized what she is missing out on with me not by her side.
Many years have passed since those days when I lacked the confidence to convince her to even sneeze at me. Now I am a robust man, handsome and experienced in the ways of life.
When she is ready to feel true love, the unbridled cosmic connection that we all seek, I will be waiting for her with my guitar.
In the shadows at the other end of the store.
Three Ideas from My Notebooks
Every day ask yourself why today is the most important day of your life. Because today is connected to the now and nothing will ever pale in comparison to the present moment. Not tomorrow, and certainly not yesterday. What you do today will change the course of your life forever. The way you think, the way you act. How you treat others, and most importantly how you treat yourself.
If you want to know what to work on next about yourself, ask yourself where your doubts are. Trace them back to your fears and you will have a map of what to do next with your life.
Understand what tasks and habits actually move the needle for the future that you want to build. Don’t stray from these things in your day.
All of the ideas going back to May 2023 are now located in The Ideas Index:
Listen to Grunewald
This one is a dubby blues jam.
These are my tracks that sound like what happens when you drop into a concert that’s been going on for 2 hours already and the band is warmed up and inside the headyness.
or listen on Apple Music or Amazon Prime.
On my other outlet, The Most Creative, I run something called The Project Lab which brings people together to help focus and work on your most burning projects for 50 minutes at a time. You don’t have to do traditional creative work, but can also use the time for adult education and study.
Check out the schedule and slot yourself into a session here.
