The Search for a Funny Story
Hello and welcome to this week’s edition of the Sunday Bagel. This email might be the best thing to happen to you since last night’s dinner.
Before we jump in maybe it’s worth asking yourself where exactly are you right now? What location in the universe are you situated in? How far are you from the sun that brings you heat and good vibes when you can see it?
I tried to think of a funny thing that happened to me this week so that I could write it here. And I could not think of anything. I have searched high and low for a funny story for you and I came up dry.
However, I did put on a compilation of funny videos yesterday and it was quite enjoyable. I realized that I find monkeys entertaining, so I watched a video devoted to monkeys specifically.
I say give it a try and let me know what effect this has on your mood. I know you think I’m being immature right now, but I swear this discovery is best thing that happened to me all week.
Three Ideas from My Notebooks
Read the list of feelings and emotions below. Pick one that seems interesting to you and ask yourself what it would take to feel that way? Left unchecked, we most often default to the right side of the page.
The universe doesn’t want you to think and act small.
Our society emphasizes “big leadership” which is code for loud people who don’t get anything done and just like getting attention. What does “quiet leadership” look like? How does that interact with the idea of deep work and focus?
New Music by Elliott: A Country Feeling
This week’s piece is a bit of a jam. Percussive drone with psychedelic electric guitar and bass. This song like many of my others is an atmosphere rather than a structured piece of music on the radio. I would imagine you have to listen to it with an open mind.
Just over 7 minutes which is the amount of time my eggs sit in the pot after they are boiled.
Find it on Spotify, Apple Music or search most streaming services to save it to your library.
Paid subscribers of the Sunday Bagel are sent a digest of my music with mp3 downloads (called “extra bagels). Redeem the Fall Special below.
Thanks for reading, feel free to write back or leave a comment.
Make sure to get your weekend quota of bagels in before Sunday ends.
See you next week (and hopefully with a funny story),
Elliott
