Hello and welcome to this week’s edition of The Sunday Bagel. There is a paid subscription option to support this ongoing nonsense which you can find here.
Some food-related thoughts this weekend:
Why is the salad fork smaller than the other forks? When I use any fork it has to be properly sized for adult fingers. If you give me a small fork I feel like Picasso painting with toothpicks, EVEN WHEN I’M EATING A SALAD FOR CHRIST’S SAKE.
Next up is the delicate timing of when to cut into an avocado. It’s kind of like giving birth to a baby or digging for oil. I use a range of seismic and cosmic intelligence to get it right, because when I open up baby Hass I don’t want to see any brown in there.
Back to the salads, my 2024 Salad Strategy is limiting my use of pre-washed spring mix from the plastic containers, and I’m buying green leaf lettuce from the fresh produce area. I wash it and then put it in a salad spinner, and then it goes into a “crisper box”.
I use the Rubbermaid Freshworks but there are many different options. That smallest size one is enough for some of your own lettuce, especially if you have a small fridge like I do.
I am also thinking that you need to get a little spray mister for the veggies in your fridge, similar to what they do in the grocery store but on a smaller scale. Just to keep them propped up every few days.
Salad dressing is a whole other kettle of fish to fry for another day as we’re not looking to boil the ocean in this segment of the newsletter.
Three Ideas from My Notebooks
We have a tendency or default mode of being that has us think small and get caught up in the weeds. Take some time to think big about what you want from your remaining years in this incarnation. Dreaming has no limits.
What is your method? How do you approach life and all the challenges that come up alongside it? What is the truth living beneath the surface of all the stuff that is coming and going in your world?
The flow state describes the experience of going to a movie where the image and the sound are perfectly synchronized. In that moment you are lost and immersed in the story. What activities put you into your own personal flow state?
All of the ideas going back to May 2023 are now located in The Ideas Index:
Elliott’s New Album: The Revelation
Get ready because The Revelation will be released in three days on Wednesday, January 17th.
Nothing will be the same after this drops, except you will still have back pain, need fibre supplements and will be required to pay taxes every spring.
Other than that it promises to crack open a new universe.

What is your 2024 Salad Strategy, or in other words, your plan to eat healthy for the next few months?
See you next week,
Elliott
Thanks Elliott for the food for thought.
Made me think - is it ok at some point of your life to not want to dream big, or go big?
I’m just so wanting to downsize in outlook and effort... is that old age, burnout, or natural swing of the pendulum?
Is dreaming big - what capitalism and socialism taught us? Is there a valid alternative?
