I was out with Missy last night and she asked if I am still sending the Wednesday Waffle or did I give up. I admitted I am back to classic Elliott frying his brain on all cylinders and I had to put this one on hold.
Then I followed up with her afterwards, and I asked if she even liked the Wednesday Waffle or if it was just more noise. And she said yes, she found it useful. So here we are back again.
🧇 ✨ Here are three things that I am enjoying this week: ✨ 🧇
Time Timer This is a classic tool in the neurodiverse world where kids have difficulty staying on task or they enter into time blindness. I find it useful to set it for five minutes and start at the kitchen sink and move outwards from there. If my kitchen is in order then my mental health increases a lot. It’s also helpful to set the volume to loud and put it on the other side of the room. When it goes off you will stop what you’re doing to flip it off which will help you keep track of time.
The Power of Now A friend is going through some challenges so I remembered that I try to re-read this book by Eckhart Tolle once a year. This is one of the best primers before taking on mindfulness and meditation. Watch a short lecture on it here but I recommend reading the book in paperback away from screens.
TinAudio C3 Wired Earbuds I tried a number of “Chi-Fi” In-Ear Monitors (wired earbuds) this year and there is a wide range of models under $100. The issue is some of them don’t fit comfortably1 OR they sound like garbage because they’re messing with the EQ. I have settled on this pair which I use to monitor my recordings, but they will sound great if you want to hear jazz, classical or rock with a neutral sound. With only 9 reviews on Amazon Canada it’s easy to say this is the most overlooked pair I have found to date.
Note that almost all IEMs and earbuds will have slight comfort issues because you are sticking an amplifier in your ear canal which is not really healthy.
