Last week’s poll was about what car you would feel comfortable crossing the street in front of. I asked this question because there was a time when Volvo was the symbol of safety. With those cars shaped like a cardboard box back in the day, I never felt any anxiety crossing the road in front of a Volvo. The stalwart of my friends back in high school, SPG, used to drive everyone around in a Volvo like this.
Probably a big difference with where I live, because the people inside a Subaru are very similar to people inside expensive Audi's and BMW's. Just for some clarity for the usual experience you'd have if you overtake one - he just immediately shows off by overtaking you with muscle motor roar in return :)
In terms of what car I'd be comfortable crossing the street in front of - I'd usually be much less anxious in front of an electric car. The reason - it is a lot safer due to the orders of magnitude lower motor latency leading to better control overall, despite the usual weight difference.
If Subaru owners in Canada are hearty people, I'll know what to do for my next visit, thanks! :)
